In exciting news for the growing Banyan Place community, a brand-new Primary School and Integrated Child & Family Centre are being built close to home.

Cardinia Shire Council has begun work on the kindergarten known as the Konewark Integrated Child and Family Centre. The centre will provide three and four-year-old kindergarten, maternal and child health services, family services, supported playgroups, counselling services and community meeting spaces.Located on the Corner of Rix Road and Campanella Avenue in Officer, the centre is a short 6 minute drive from the Banyan Place Community, meaning this new centre will be a popular addition with many families in the local community.

Integrated child and family centres are great pillars of new communities as they become a focal point for professionals to deliver accessible services including education, care, health and support services to children and young families.

The centre is currently under construction and is anticipated to be completed in the coming months.

In addition to the new kindergarten, the Victorian Government has secured the site next door which has been earmarked for a new primary school.

The school is currently known as Officer Rix Road Primary School (interim name) until a name is appointed by the Victorian government later this year. The new school is a great win for the growing population of Cardinia as well as Banyan Place residents, as it ensures the growing local community will continue to have great access to educational facilities for their children close to home.

The school will have space for 525 local students and will open for enrolments for students in Prep to Grade 6.

The new primary school will include the following facilities:

  • an administration building with a library, staff offices and amenities as well as specialist teaching areas for science and food technology
  • 2 learning neighbourhood buildings, incorporating general purpose classrooms, flexible and collaborative teaching spaces
  • a community hub building with a competition-grade gymnasium, canteen, music and drama space
  • 2 outdoor hardcourts
  • a sports field.

The school is currently in the early phases of construction and is anticipated to be completed in time for new students to begin in Term 1, 2023.

Both the Kindergarten & Primary School will be welcome additions to the growing Banyan Place community and the wider established community. The centres are sure to become long standing institutions and develop strong relationships with the Banyan Place community and their families.
